The search and rescue operation in the Himlung avalanche area is continuing, with the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) Search & Rescue Team recovering the bodies of four deceased climbers. The ongoing operation is being carried out in challenging conditions as the rescue team continues its efforts to locate and recover those who remain missing following the tragic avalanche incident in the Himlung region.
Two Bodies Recovered Earlier
According to the NNMGA, the search team recovered the bodies of Mr. Chhebi Bhote and Mr. Pasang Bhote during the previous day’s operation. The recovery was carried out as part of the continued search in the avalanche-affected area, where difficult terrain and weather conditions have made the operation challenging.
Two More Deceased Climbers Recovered
The rescue team has continued its work today and recovered the bodies of two additional climbers. The deceased have been identified as:
- Mr. Birendra Gurung
- Mr. Ghan Shyam Rai
With the latest recovery, the NNMGA team has so far recovered four bodies from the Himlung avalanche area during the ongoing search operation.
Search Operation to Continue
The NNMGA stated that the search operation is still underway. The team plans to continue working for another three to four hours, subject to weather and site conditions. The difficult conditions at the avalanche site continue to require careful and coordinated efforts from the search and rescue personnel. The team is continuing to search the area for any remaining missing climbers and to complete the recovery operation.

The association said its search and rescue team remains committed to continuing the operation until the mission is completed.
