The Hotels and Tourism Index on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) posted a modest gain on Tuesday, rising 13.68 points (0.18%) to close at 7,388.24, even as the broader market ended the day in negative territory. The sectoral index recovered after declining 167.84 points in the previous trading session, reflecting renewed buying interest in tourism and hospitality stocks.

Hotels and Tourism Index Trades Higher
The Hotels and Tourism Index opened the day at 7,374.56 and moved within an intraday range of 7,336.01 to 7,427.21 before settling at 7,388.24 at the close of trading.
The positive performance made the hotels and tourism sector one of the few segments to end the session in the green despite weakness in the broader market.

NEPSE Extends Losing Streak
Meanwhile, the benchmark NEPSE Index declined by 4.64 points (0.17%) to close at 2,696.67, following a steeper loss of 33.28 points in the previous trading session. The benchmark index opened at 2,704.77 and traded between an intraday high of 2,705.83 and a low of 2,680.87 before ending the session lower.
Turnover Exceeds Rs. 4.42 Billion
Investor activity remained healthy despite the market decline. A total turnover of Rs. 4.42 billion was recorded during the trading session, with 10,421,863 shares of 342 listed companies changing hands through 55,580 transactions.

Market Capitalisation Remains Above Rs. 46 Trillion
Following the day’s trading, the total market capitalisation of the Nepal Stock Exchange stood at Rs. 46.34 trillion, while the float market capitalisation reached Rs. 15.65 trillion. Although the overall market closed lower, the positive performance of the Hotels and Tourism sector indicated continued investor interest in tourism and hospitality-related stocks.
