The 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) concluded in Kathmandu with the election of a new working committee. Kamal Bahadur Thakuri was elected as the president of NARA, the umbrella organization for rafting entrepreneurs in Nepal.
The newly formed committee includes Suk Bahadur Lama as vice-chairman, Chudamani Aryal as general secretary, Devraj Jaisi as secretary, and Bishnu Gurung and Sanjiv Kumar Tamang as members. The position of treasurer remains vacant.
In his address, newly elected president Kamal Thakuri emphasized the importance of aligning the goals of individual organizations with the broader objectives of tourism. He acknowledged the additional challenges faced by NARA today, especially in the context of increased utilization of natural resources, and promised to continue efforts to address these concerns.
Shiva Adhikari, the former president of NARA, also shared an exciting development, announcing that the association would have its own building within the next two years. He revealed that an initiative has been taken to construct a building worth Rs 4.5 crore, and NARA aims to hold its AGM in the new building within the next two years. This was described as a significant milestone for the association.
The election and announcement of the new building project mark a promising future for NARA as it continues to support rafting entrepreneurs and contribute to Nepal’s thriving tourism sector.
