A thrilling kayaking competition is set to take place this Friday, spanning a 27-kilometer stretch from Chhimkeshwari in Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality, Tanahun, to Devchuli in Nawalpur. Organized by the Gandaki Province Sports Development Council, the event will feature 27 skilled participants navigating the challenging waters.
The competition aims to not only boost adventure tourism in the region but also contribute to disaster management efforts. By showcasing the potential of local rivers for sports and rescue training, the event highlights the importance of utilizing water resources for both recreation and safety preparedness.
To encourage participation and recognize outstanding performances, cash prizes have been set for the winners. The first-place winner will receive NPR 30,000, while the second and third-place winners will be awarded NPR 20,000 and NPR 10,000, respectively. Additionally, a consolation prize of NPR 7,000 will be given to a deserving competitor.
The kayaking competition is expected to attract adventure sports enthusiasts and spectators, further enhancing the region’s appeal as a prime destination for water-based tourism activities.
