Under the Cabinet decision, Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha will lead the state-owned national carrier in a dual executive capacity, combining the roles of Executive Chairman and General Manager.

Cabinet Aims to Strengthen Leadership at Nepal Airlines
With the new appointment, the government aims to streamline the leadership structure of Nepal Airlines by placing both strategic and operational responsibilities under a single executive. The move is expected to improve decision-making, enhance management efficiency, and strengthen the operational performance of the national flag carrier.

As Executive Chairman and General Manager, Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha will be responsible for overseeing the corporation’s administrative, financial, and operational affairs while guiding its long-term strategic direction.

Nepal Airlines has been facing challenges related to fleet management, financial sustainability, route expansion, and service delivery. The government believes that the unified leadership model will help accelerate reforms, improve governance, and support the corporation’s efforts to modernize its operations.
The appointment comes at a time when Nepal Airlines is seeking to enhance its competitiveness in both domestic and international markets while improving service quality and operational efficiency.
