Mingma Gyabu (David) Sherpa successfully summited Mount Everest for the ninth time on the morning of May 27, 2026, carrying the Parliament flag to the top of the world’s highest mountain.
Mingma Gyabu Sherpa reached the summit at around 6:00 AM and later confirmed that he had safely returned to Everest Base Camp after the successful ascent.
Sharing his gratitude following the expedition, Sherpa said he was thankful for the prayers, encouragement, and support he received throughout the journey.
Elite Exped Confirms Successful Ascent
According to Kushal Budhathoki, Manager at Elite Exped Pvt. Ltd., Sherpa successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest earlier this morning. With this latest climb, Sherpa has now completed nine successful ascents of Mount Everest, further strengthening his reputation as one of Nepal’s accomplished high-altitude mountaineers.
Journey from Kitchen Helper to Global Mountaineering Icon
Sherpa began his mountaineering journey at the age of 18. His dream of becoming a professional climber started in 2009 while working as a kitchen helper during an expedition to Manaslu.
Inspired by the mountaineering world around him, Sherpa gradually built his climbing career through determination, training, and years of experience in the Himalayas. Over the years, he has earned international recognition for his remarkable achievements in high-altitude mountaineering.
Youngest Climber to Complete All 14 Peaks Above 8,000 Meters
Mingma Gyabu Sherpa is widely recognized as the youngest climber to summit all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters, one of the greatest achievements in global mountaineering.
Under the prestigious Seven Summits challenge, he has also climbed six of the highest peaks across the seven continents. Only Carstensz Pyramid remains for him to complete the challenge.
His accomplishments continue to inspire aspiring climbers and strengthen Nepal’s identity as the home of the world’s greatest mountaineers.
