Minister Pandey Directs Nepal Airlines to Submit Reform Plan Within 15 Days

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has instructed Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to present a detailed reform plan within 15 days. Speaking at a program held at NAC’s central office, Minister Pandey emphasized that the current operational state of the corporation is unsustainable and requires immediate restructuring.

He assured that the Ministry is committed to driving improvements in the airline’s performance. “Once NAC submits its reform plan, the Ministry will proactively support its implementation in every aspect,” Minister Pandey stated.

Minister Pandey reaffirmed that the corporation’s ground handling services, a critical revenue backbone, will remain under NAC’s control. He directed the management to focus on generating profits from its core aviation services, urging the airline to strategize effectively for financial sustainability.

The Minister also addressed the issue of underutilized Chinese aircraft, which have been a financial burden for the corporation. He expressed the Ministry’s willingness to explore positive solutions for the management of these aircraft to reduce losses.

This directive marks a significant step toward revamping NAC’s operations, signaling a push for accountability and profitability in Nepal’s national carrier.
