The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Area Conservation Office Jomsom, has announced the postponement of the scheduled 47th World Tourism Day celebrations in Mustang due to adverse weather conditions. The programs, originally scheduled for September 27, 2026, corresponding to Ashwin 11, 2083, were to be organized by Puthang Aama Bahumukhi Cooperative Society Ltd. at Puthang Airport in coordination with the ACAP Area Conservation Office and the Integrated Service Office, Mustang.
Tourist Welcome and Morning Procession Planned
According to the notice, the World Tourism Day program was scheduled to take place at Puthang Airport from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The event was planned to include a welcome program for tourists, a morning procession and an exchange of greetings and best wishes to mark World Tourism Day. The program was intended to bring together tourism stakeholders and visitors in Mustang to celebrate the significance of tourism and promote the district as a key destination in Nepal’s mountain travel sector.
Continuous Rainfall and Snowfall Affect Plans
The organizers said the decision to postpone the event was taken after considering the continuous rainfall and snowfall that Mustang has experienced over the past two days. The weather forecast also indicates the possibility of unfavorable weather conditions continuing for the next few days. In view of the potential impact of the adverse weather on the safety and smooth operation of the planned activities, the organizers have decided to suspend all previously scheduled programs until further notice.

The notice stated that the postponement applies to all programs that had been scheduled for the World Tourism Day celebration in Mustang. Further information regarding the rescheduling of the event is expected to be provided later, depending on improvements in weather conditions. The concerned tourism stakeholders, visitors and the general public have been informed of the decision accordingly.
