The Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) has launched a special two-day campaign to mark the 47th World Tourism Day 2026, under the themes “Nepal Calling” and “Nepal is Open.” As part of the campaign, NATTA organized the NATTA Clean & Green Campaign on September 26 at the Shivapuri–Nagarjun National Park Corridor, covering the Budhanilkantha–Tokha–Chandeshwori area. The initiative brought together tourism professionals and other stakeholders to promote environmental conservation and responsible tourism.

Tourism Stakeholders Join Hands for Environmental Conservation
The campaign was conducted under the leadership of NATTA President Bharat Jung Pandey, with the participation of more than 50 people. NATTA Executive Committee members, association members, tourism professionals, Nepal Police volunteers, past presidents and partner organizations joined the cleanup initiative.

Participants worked together to clean the designated areas while raising awareness about the importance of protecting Nepal’s natural environment and tourism resources. The campaign also highlighted the connection between a clean environment and Nepal’s image as a sustainable tourism destination. NATTA emphasized that preserving natural surroundings and heritage is an essential part of developing and promoting responsible tourism in the country.

Hari Bansha Acharya Inaugurates Campaign
Renowned artist and actor Hari Bansha Acharya inaugurated the Clean & Green Campaign and participated in the initiative. His presence added significance to the campaign, which sought to bring greater public attention to environmental conservation and the role of communities and tourism stakeholders in maintaining Nepal’s natural and cultural assets. The campaign also used the World Tourism Day occasion to reinforce the message that tourism development should go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.

Focus on Sustainable and Responsible Tourism
Through the Clean & Green Campaign, NATTA highlighted the need for tourism stakeholders to take practical initiatives to protect destinations and maintain their environmental quality. The Shivapuri–Nagarjun National Park corridor and surrounding areas are important natural spaces in the Kathmandu Valley. Activities aimed at keeping such areas clean can contribute to maintaining their appeal for both domestic and international visitors. NATTA stated that the protection of natural surroundings and heritage is integral to positioning Nepal as a responsible and sustainable tourism destination.

Frontline Hospital Provides Medical and Ambulance Support
The campaign received support from Frontline Hospital, which provided medical equipment and ambulance services for the program. The medical support ensured that necessary assistance was available during the campaign and contributed to the safe conduct of the initiative.

Campaign Marks World Tourism Day 2026
The Clean & Green Campaign forms part of NATTA’s broader World Tourism Day 2026 activities under the messages “Nepal Calling” and “Nepal is Open.” By combining tourism promotion with environmental action, the campaign sought to demonstrate the tourism sector’s role in protecting the destinations on which the industry depends. NATTA expressed its appreciation to all participants, supporting organizations, volunteers and partners who contributed to the successful completion of the Clean & Green Campaign.
