Nepal Proposes Direct Flights Between Cambodia and Bhairahawa to Strengthen Tourism and Cultural Ties

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has proposed initiating direct flights between Cambodia and Bhairahawa, Nepal, to enhance tourism and cultural exchange. The proposal was presented during his meeting with Cambodia’s Minister for Cults and Religion, Chay Borin, earlier today.

Highlighting the potential of this new route, Minister Pandey informed his Cambodian counterpart about the subsidies provided by the Nepalese government for airline companies operating flights at Pokhara and Bhairahawa international airports.

The two ministers also discussed the possibility of developing a Buddhist circuit connecting major Buddhist destinations in both countries. This initiative aims to attract Buddhist pilgrims and promote cultural and spiritual tourism. Additionally, they explored opportunities for cooperation in art, music, tourism, and cultural development.

The meeting further focused on youth engagement and educational exchanges to strengthen bilateral ties. Both nations also expressed interest in working together to conserve and protect UNESCO World Heritage sites, fostering goodwill and cultural collaboration.

In a gesture of strengthened ties, Minister Chay Borin extended an invitation to Minister Pandey for an official visit to Cambodia.

This initiative aligns with Nepal’s efforts to boost tourism through international partnerships and highlight its cultural heritage on a global stage.
