Central Bank Disclaimer
NRB has stated that these exchange rates may be revised at any time based on necessity. Commercial banks may set slightly different rates, and the updated exchange rates are made available on the central bank’s official website. This daily adjustment by the central bank helps maintain stability in the foreign exchange market, guiding both individuals and businesses in Nepal for their currency transactions.
Maintaining stable exchange rates is critical for Nepal, which relies heavily on imports and foreign remittances. Consistent currency values help control inflation, facilitate trade, and ensure predictable costs for imported goods, including essential commodities. By providing daily benchmarks for currency trading, the central bank contributes to transparency and confidence in the financial market.
Foreign exchange rates also influence tourism, investment, and cross-border employment, sectors that are vital to Nepal’s economy. A well-regulated exchange rate ensures that remittances from Nepali workers abroad retain value when converted to the local currency. Moreover, businesses engaged in international trade can plan pricing, budgeting, and procurement strategies more effectively.
