The Embassy of Nepal in South Korea has successfully arranged the screening of a promotional video highlighting Nepal’s tourism on the country’s high-speed railway. The 17-second video is being displayed onboard the KTX High-Speed Train No. 101, operating on the Seoul–Busan route, since February 1, 2026.
Initiative Proposed by Nepalese Ambassador
The idea for the video screening was initially proposed by Nepal’s Ambassador to South Korea, Dr. Shivmaya Tumbahangphe, during a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Korail on April 14, 2025. With the support of Korail and Yonhap News Agency, the embassy ensured that the video would be screened at least twice daily on the Seoul–Busan route for travelers, free of charge.
Showcasing Heritage and Culture
The video features some of Nepal’s most iconic tourist destinations and cultural landmarks, including Lumbini, Mount Everest, Chitwan National Park, Swayambhunath, and various Buddhist stupas.
In addition, short clips highlighting Nepalese art and cultural heritage are included, providing international travelers with a glimpse of the country’s rich traditions and natural beauty.
Promoting to International Tourists
The initiative is part of it’s ongoing efforts to boost its international tourism profile, especially in markets like South Korea. By presenting it’s scenic landscapes, historical sites, and cultural richness directly to travelers on one of the busiest high-speed train routes in South Korea, the embassy aims to generate greater interest and awareness among potential tourists.
The embassy’s efforts reflect a creative approach to tourism promotion, leveraging strategic partnerships with transport operators and media agencies to reach a wide audience efficiently.
