Nepalese Delegation Heads to FITUR 2025 in Madrid to Strengthen Tourism Presence in Europe

The Nepalese delegation has departed from Tribhuvan International Airport this morning to participate in the highly anticipated FITUR 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious international travel trade fairs. The event will be held in Madrid, Spain, from January 22 to 26, 2025, and will be led by the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The delegation, spearheaded by Mr. Kumar Mani Thapaliya, President of NATTA, comprises over 50 representatives from more than 25 travel, trekking, and hotel business companies. The main goal of this participation is to boost Nepal’s tourism presence in the European market, a region that remains a significant source of visitors for the country.

This year, as in previous editions, the collaboration between NATTA and the Nepal Tourism Board aims to showcase Nepal’s tourism potential. While the Nepal Tourism Board faced internal issues in 2024 and was unable to participate, NATTA took the responsibility for Nepal’s presence at the fair. For FITUR 2025, NTB will arrange the stalls for Nepal, while NATTA handles the selection, management, and coordination of participating businesses. Mr. Dhak Nath Kafle, NATTA’s co-treasurer and program coordinator, will oversee team management, with Mr. Shraddha Joshi, a working committee member, serving as co-coordinator.

Before the team’s departure, Mr. Thapaliya emphasized the significance of such international fairs for Nepal’s tourism sector. “Participation in events like FITUR is crucial to increase global awareness of Nepal’s tourism offerings,” he remarked. “These platforms not only help us expand our market but also create opportunities to forge new partnerships and solidify Nepal’s position as a leading tourist destination.” He further stressed the importance of continuous participation in such fairs to ensure the sustainable development of Nepal’s tourism sector.

FITUR is one of the largest travel trade fairs globally, attracting over 100,000 tourism professionals, business representatives, and industry partners. With Europe being a key source market for Nepal, this event provides an excellent opportunity to highlight the country’s cultural, natural, and adventure tourism offerings.

The collaboration between NATTA and the Nepal Tourism Board is designed to elevate Nepal’s tourism business, making its destinations more globally recognized. Mr. Thapaliya expressed optimism that participating in such events will not only open up new business opportunities for Nepalese tourism professionals but will also inspire them to adopt international trends and technologies, contributing to the modernization of Nepal’s tourism sector. The continuous participation of Nepal at global tourism fairs like FITUR is expected to have a long-term impact, further solidifying the country’s identity as a top-tier global tourist destination.
