The city of Nepalgunj has come alive with excitement as the much-anticipated “Nepalgunj Street Food and Beverage Festival–2083” officially kicks off today. The three-day event, being held at the Water Park area along Surkhet Road, is expected to draw large crowds of food lovers, tourists, and industry stakeholders.
The festival is jointly organized by the Hoteliers’ Association Banke and the Hotel Association Nepal (Banke Chapter), who confirmed that all preparations have been completed following an intensive final round of planning.

Strategic Push to Revitalize Regional Tourism
Speaking at a press conference held at the venue on Thursday evening, Bhim Lal Kandel, President of the Hoteliers’ Association Banke, said the festival is a strategic effort to revive and promote tourism in the region.
“Our primary goal is to promote tourism in the Nepalgunj area by attracting domestic visitors from across western Nepal and welcoming our neighbors from India,” he said. “We also aim to identify and promote unique local dishes while creating a sustainable platform for the growth of the hotel and hospitality business.” Organizers believe the event will play a key role in boosting economic activity and strengthening the identity of Nepalgunj as a vibrant tourism hub.
A Blend of Local and International Flavors
The festival promises a diverse culinary experience, offering everything from authentic street food to premium dishes prepared by top hotel establishments. According to Diwakar Khanal, President of the Hotel Association Banke, the event has been designed as a “one-stop destination” for food enthusiasts.
To encourage cross-border participation, Indian visitors will be granted free entry, while a nominal fee has been set for Nepali attendees. With around 40 food stalls set up at the venue, visitors can explore a wide range of flavors representing both traditional and modern cuisine.
Cultural Performances and Entertainment Highlights
Beyond food, the festival will feature a vibrant lineup of cultural performances and live entertainment. Vice President Keshav Neupane said the event aims to offer a complete experience that combines cuisine with culture.
Renowned singer Ramkrishna Dhakal is among the major attractions, along with popular actor Vijay Baral and actress Barsha Raut. Comedy performances by Mexam Gaudel will also entertain audiences, while local artists will showcase their talents through music and dance performances.
Positioning Nepalgunj as a Food Destination
Organizers have emphasized that the long-term vision of the festival is to establish Nepalgunj as a leading “food destination” in Nepal. By promoting local cuisine, supporting regional businesses, and attracting tourists, the event aims to create a lasting cultural and economic impact.
They added that collaboration among various committees and stakeholders has ensured smooth management of the festival, with a focus on visitor experience and safety.

City Ready to Welcome Visitors
With all preparations in place, Nepalgunj is ready to welcome visitors from across Nepal and neighboring India. The festival is expected to not only celebrate food and culture but also strengthen the city’s position as an emerging hub for tourism and hospitality.
Organizers remain optimistic that the Nepalgunj Street Food and Beverage Festival will set a new benchmark for similar events in the future, contributing to the sustainable growth of the region’s tourism industry.
