The Newa Deya Dabu is all set to organize the fifth edition of the Yomari Festival, a celebration of Newa culture and tradition, starting this Saturday. The festival will run for three days and will feature cultural performances, including the traditional Dhime dance.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Central Vice-President Anil Maskey announced that the festival will see participation from over 200 artists showcasing their talents. The event aims to highlight the rich heritage of the Newa community, particularly the significance of Yomari, a traditional delicacy.
Yomari, a steamed bread made from rice flour and filled with sesame seeds, holds special importance in Newa culture. It is traditionally prepared and offered to deities as prasad on the occasion of Yomari Purnima. This festival will offer visitors a chance to savor this iconic dish while immersing themselves in New traditions.
The Yomari Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration, blending cultural performances, culinary experiences, and a glimpse into the unique practices of the Nepal Bhasa-speaking community. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a festival rooted in history and culture!
