As part of its annual budget and operational plan, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) continues to promote various sectors within the country’s tourism industry. One of its key initiatives is the promotion of health and wellness tourism in eastern Nepal, with a particular focus on the growing medical and wellness services in Jhapa.

Building on the success of the first Health Tourism Promotion event held in June 2023, NTB is preparing for the second edition in 2025. To support this, a multi-stakeholder interaction program was organized today in Birtamode, bringing together tourism industry representatives and health service providers.

With Birtamode Municipality as a key partner, the initiative aims to showcase the potential of health and wellness tourism both domestically and internationally. The program seeks to attract medical tourists from neighboring cities in India and position eastern Nepal as a preferred destination for quality healthcare and wellness services.

The discussions highlighted the need for infrastructure development, policy support, and strategic marketing to boost the region’s appeal to health-conscious travelers. NTB remains committed to fostering collaborations that will enhance the growth of health tourism, contributing to the broader goal of diversifying Nepal’s tourism offerings.
