Pokhara Hotels Offer 20% Discount For New Year Festival To Boost Tourism

Hotels in Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal, are offering a 20% discount on room rates to attract tourists for the New Year. The Pokhara Hotel Association is organizing the 20th Fewa New Year Festival 2081 from Chait 30 to Baishakh 1 to promote Nepali culture, cuisine, and tourism.

Hotels are set to experience increased bookings as the upcoming festival highlights traditional food, cultural performances, sports events, a tourist race, pop concerts, and exhibitions on agriculture and handicrafts. This grand event, with an estimated budget of Rs. 5 million, aims to promote local culture while attracting both domestic and international visitors.

The festival’s diverse lineup of activities is expected to draw a large audience, creating business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and artisans. The inclusion of exhibitions on agriculture and handicrafts will provide a platform for local producers to showcase their products, further boosting the economy. Additionally, cultural performances and sporting events will enhance the overall experience for attendees, fostering a deeper appreciation for the region’s traditions. With hotels accommodating an influx of tourists, the hospitality sector is likely to witness a surge in revenue, contributing to the broader economic growth of the area.

The festival, spanning 3 km from the Dam Site to Khere, will also promote tourism packages such as “Jau Hai Pokhara” for sightseeing and educational tours. Currently, Pokhara hotels have a 40% occupancy rate. With Pokhara’s tourism year 2025 declared, the number of domestic and Indian tourists has been increasing.
