Preparations are underway for the ‘Fewa New Year Festival’, organized by the Pokhara Hotel Association, which will take place from Chaitra 30 to Baishakh 1 along Lakeside. Festival coordinator and Hotel Association President Laxman Subedi announced that various subcommittees have been formed to ensure the event’s success. The festival aims to celebrate the Nepali New Year with the same significance as the English New Year while preserving and promoting Nepali art and culture.

The festival also seeks to attract domestic and international tourists to Pokhara and raise awareness about the conservation of Fewa Lake. The event will be held along a three-kilometer stretch from Dam Side to Gaira Chautara , with free admission. Activities will include various food stalls, traditional Nepali art and cultural performances, tourist stalls, and sports events.

The association will soon announce special discounts for guests attending the festival. The association’s first and second vice presidents, Deepak Shrestha and Ganesh Raj Pahari, will serve as co-coordinators. Other officials and members of the association have also been assigned various responsibilities.

The festival is expected to help revitalize tourism affected by COVID-19. To promote the event and encourage domestic tourism, the association has been running the ‘Let’s Go to Pokhara’ campaign for the past two decades. Meanwhile, the association welcomed Maniraj Lamichhane, the new head of the Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki, at the event.
