Rara Holdings Resort Receives Environmental Approval for Construction in Mugu

Rara Holdings Resort Pvt. Ltd. has received preliminary environmental approval (IEE) from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Department of Tourism for the construction of the Rara Resort in Mugu’s Chhayannath Rara Municipality-9, Murmatop.

During the Third Nepal Investment Conference held in Kathmandu, a significant agreement was signed between the Australian Expert Group and Rara Holdings Pvt. Ltd. regarding this project.

The Department announced that the IEE report for the construction and operation of the Rara Resort, which will consist of 62 rooms across 19 buildings with a total capacity of 98 beds, has been approved following the Environment Protection Act, 2076, and the Environment Protection Regulations, 2077. With the IEE permission granted, the construction process for Rara Resort is set to move forward.

The Department has specified that an environmental self-evaluation report must be submitted every six months. The luxury resort, covering an area of 80 ropanis in Murmatop, will see an initial investment of NPR 700 million. Designed to be environmentally friendly, the resort will reflect local culture in a traditional Nepali style, utilizing maximum local resources and materials, according to Abhishek Vikram Shah of Rara Holdings Pvt. Ltd. Shah indicated that the formal groundbreaking ceremony for the resort will take place soon, expediting the construction process.
