Regular flights at Resunga Airport in Gulmi have resumed after nearly 2 months of suspension due to adverse weather conditions. Flights were halted in the second week of Ashadh (mid-June) due to unfavorable weather, but operations have restarted as the weather has improved.
According to Suman Thapa, the Station Chief of Nepal Airlines at Resunga Airport, a Nepal Airlines flight successfully landed today, marking the resumption of services. The flight from Kathmandu carried 12 passengers who disembarked at Resunga Airport this morning.
Looking ahead, Resunga Airport plans to operate flights once a week on Fridays, depending on weather conditions. Although the airport has permission to conduct flights three times a week, the last flight took place on Ashadh 14 (late June) before the weather disruptions began.
The scheduled flight times for Resunga Airport are 6:30 AM from Kathmandu and 7:45 AM for the return journey from Resunga to Kathmandu. However, during the monsoon season, early morning flights have faced challenges due to cloud cover over the airport, according to airport staff.
Nepal Airlines’ Twin Otter aircraft will continue to serve the Resunga route. The current airfare is set at NPR 7,080 for flights from Gulmi to Kathmandu and NPR 7,280 for the return trip from Kathmandu to Gulmi.
Resunga Airport is located in Ward No. 10 of Resunga Municipality, Simichaur. Commercial flights at the airport began just last year, contributing to better connectivity for the region.
