In a significant stride toward enhancing luxury tourism in Chitwan, Royal Tulip Chitwan, a premium five-star resort located in the heart of Sauraha, has officially launched its all-day dining restaurant, ‘The Majhighar’. Operated under the globally acclaimed Louvre Hotels Group and managed locally by KTM Hospitality, the resort aims to redefine the hospitality and culinary landscape of the region.
A Fusion of Tradition and Luxury
‘The Majhighar’ is more than just a restaurant, it is an immersive experience rooted in the rich cultural tapestry of the Majhi and Tharu communities. Designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, the restaurant brings to life traditional culinary practices while seamlessly blending them with modern gastronomy. According to the resort management, guests can enjoy thoughtfully curated dishes that reflect the heritage and local flavors of the region, offering a unique opportunity to savor the taste of Chitwan’s indigenous culture.
Royal Tulip Resort Set for Grand Opening by Ashwin
Although the construction of Royal Tulip Resort began in 2020, its official opening was initially scheduled for the Nepali month of Baisakh this year. However, due to unforeseen delays in construction, the resort is now expected to open by Ashwin (mid-September to mid-October 2025). Rameshwar Shah, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KTM Hospitality, confirmed that final preparations are in full swing for the grand launch. Once operational, the resort is expected to play a key role in boosting both domestic and international tourism.
A Landmark Investment in Chitwan
With a staggering investment of Rs. 1.5 billion, Royal Tulip Chitwan stands as the first five-star luxury resort in Sauraha. This landmark development is not just a private endeavor but a potential catalyst for regional tourism growth and national promotion. Shah emphasized that the resort would help elevate the country’s profile in the international luxury tourism segment.
The project marks the first entry of the Louvre Hotels brand into Nepal, a significant development in the country’s hospitality sector. The group is recognized globally for managing upscale hotels across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. With Louvre’s management expertise, Shah assured that Royal Tulip Chitwan will uphold the same international standards of service and luxury.
Redefining Hospitality in Sauraha
The resort is poised to set a new benchmark for hospitality in the region. Sprawled across more than 4 crore square feet, Royal Tulip Chitwan features 65 exquisitely designed accommodations, including private pool villas, water villas, and Machan suites. These accommodations are not only visually stunning but also equipped with top-tier amenities, offering guests panoramic views and an unforgettable stay experience.
Guests will also have access to a range of world-class facilities including a spa, fitness center, swimming pool, and multiple dining outlets such as Majhighar, Forest Flame, Machan (a revolving deck), and the Tanavi Sports Bar. These amenities are designed to offer a holistic luxury experience to both leisure and business travelers.
Boosting Regional Tourism and Employment
Chairman Shah expressed confidence that the resort will serve as a catalyst for local economic development. By creating local employment opportunities and drawing in high-value tourists, the resort is expected to uplift the hospitality ecosystem of Chitwan. Moreover, the resort’s presence is likely to encourage further investments in the region’s tourism infrastructure.
Eyeing the Growing International Tourist Base
According to tourism statistics, around 1.2 million international tourists visited Nepal in 2024, with approximately 300,000 of them traveling to Sauraha annually. Royal Tulip Chitwan aims to capitalize on this influx by offering a level of luxury and service previously unavailable in the area. With its state-of-the-art offerings and strategic location near Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the resort is well-positioned to attract discerning travelers seeking both adventure and indulgence.
The launch of ‘The Majhighar’ marks just the beginning of Royal Tulip Chitwan’s larger vision: to become a beacon of luxury hospitality in Nepal. With its cultural authenticity, world-class service, and commitment to excellence, the resort is poised to become a landmark destination not just in Sauraha, but in the entire South Asian tourism circuit. As Chitwan gears up for a new era in tourism, Royal Tulip stands ready to lead the transformation, one plate, one room, and one unforgettable experience at a time.
