The much-anticipated seventh edition of the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon is set to take place on 9 May 2026. Organized by the Karnali Sports Club Jumla, the marathon aims to promote the natural beauty and adventure sports tourism of the Karnali region.
Marathon Route and Registration
According to Saroj Shahi, president of the Karnali Sports Club, the race will commence from Khalanga Bazaar, the district headquarters of Jumla. Participants can choose from three different race categories: a 5-kilometer race, a 10-kilometer race, and a 51-kilometer ultra running competition.

Employees, industrialists, businesspersons, and other interested individuals can participate in the 5-kilometer race by paying a registration fee of Rs 500, while children under 18 can join the 10-kilometer race free of charge. For the ultra marathon covering 51 kilometers, registration fees have been set at Rs 3,000 for local runners and Rs 5,000 for other participants.

Prize Distribution
The competition promises attractive cash prizes for winners in all categories:
- 5-kilometer race: First place Rs 5,000, second Rs 3,000, third Rs 2,000
- 10-kilometer race: First place Rs 10,000, second Rs 7,000, third Rs 5,000
- 51-kilometer ultra marathon: First place Rs 100,000, second Rs 75,000, third Rs 50,000, fourth and fifth Rs 20,000 each
These prizes are designed to encourage both amateur and professional runners to participate and showcase their talent in this challenging race.
Registration Deadline
The Karnali Sports Club has emphasized that all participants must register by 3 May 2026 to secure their spot in the marathon. Interested runners are encouraged to complete their registration early to avoid last-minute complications.
