The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Mafengwo have launched the “Singapore AI Inspiration Lab Lion City Adventure More Fun, More You” in Beijing, introducing a new technology-driven approach to destination promotion and travel planning. The immersive pop-up event brings Singapore’s tourism experiences closer to Chinese travelers through artificial intelligence, interactive activities and personalized travel inspiration, with a particular focus on seniors, families and new workforce entrants. The initiative represents another step in the organizations’ ongoing collaboration to combine destination marketing with smart travel technology and encourage visitors to discover Singapore beyond its most familiar attractions.
AI Reimagines How Chinese Travelers Discover Singapore
The Singapore AI Inspiration Lab was officially inaugurated by Du Linghui, China North Regional Director of the Singapore Tourism Board, and He Shaohua, Vice President of Mafengwo, marking a new phase in the organizations’ cooperation in AI-powered travel. The initiative follows their strategic partnership established in 2024 and the development of Mafengwo’s AI travel assistant, continuing a broader shift from traditional destination marketing toward technology-enabled travel services. Instead of focusing only on Singapore’s famous landmarks, the Lab encourages visitors to explore neighborhoods, night markets, design boutiques, street culture, and lesser-known natural attractions based on their personal interests and travel preferences.

The concept reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence in helping travelers research destinations and organize trips more efficiently. During the event, visitors could see Mafengwo’s AI travel assistant in action, demonstrating how travel information can be transformed into personalized recommendations through interactive conversations. The experience is designed to make trip planning less dependent on lengthy searches and more responsive to individual interests, helping potential visitors imagine a Singapore itinerary that matches their own travel style rather than following a standard sightseeing route.
Personalized Experiences For Youth, Families And Seniors
The event placed a strong emphasis on three different traveler groups, demonstrating how technology can respond to different expectations and travel needs. Mafengwo travel influencer “Yuandawang Jiushi Wo”, known for exploring urban trends and city walking experiences, highlighted how AI can uncover less conventional Singapore routes featuring street art, nightlife and emerging cultural experiences. Family travel influencer “Guo Xiaoyan” presented a four-day, three-night Singapore itinerary for families, emphasizing the destination’s family-friendly attractions, convenient facilities and safe travel environment. AI tools can further personalize such itineraries according to children’s ages and interests, making family trip planning more efficient.
Senior travel influencer “Luo Gaga GAGA” demonstrated another side of Singapore tourism through a slower-paced trip with her mother. Her approach highlighted the growing demand for travel experiences designed around comfort, flexibility and manageable schedules for older visitors. The AI-powered planning concept can help create gentler itineraries that take individual preferences into account while still allowing senior travelers to experience its attractions and culture. Together, the three travel perspectives show how personalized tourism can serve different generations while giving travelers greater control over how they experience a destination.

Immersive Technology Turns Travel Planning Into An Experience
The Beijing pop-up featured several interactive spaces designed to allow visitors to experience Singapore without leaving China. These included a traveler personality test area, Lion City-themed graffiti wall, Nanyang-style photo studio, AI travel assistant demonstration area, AI interactive zone, and Singapore co-branded marketplace. Visitors could also participate in a pin-button crafting activity and collect stamps for souvenirs and gifts, turning destination promotion into a hands-on experience rather than a conventional tourism campaign. The Nanyang-style photo studio was designed with senior travelers in mind, using Singapore-inspired color elements to create a relaxed setting for photographs.
The event also showcased the potential of AI and robotics in the visitor experience. The AI demonstration area used high-definition screens to show how Mafengwo’s travel assistant can identify relevant Singapore experiences from a large volume of travel information and turn them into personalized recommendations.
An interactive robot zone featured intelligent AI robot dogs as examples of emerging smart tourism technology. Earlier in 2026, STB and Mafengwo conducted a limited robodog pilot at Sentosa Sensoryscape and Exploria and Curiosity Cove at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, where the multilingual guides provided visitor assistance and curated storytelling in English and Mandarin. The pilot ran from April 18 to May 17, 2026, demonstrating how AI and robotics could become part of future visitor experiences.

Singapore Expands Its Tourism Appeal Through Smart Travel
The AI initiative comes as Singapore continues to broaden its tourism offering with new attractions and experiences aimed at different traveler segments. The source highlights Rainforest Wild Asia, which opened in March 2025, Disney Adventure, which began home-porting in Singapore in March 2026, and the Southeast Asian debut of POP BAKERY at Resorts World Sentosa in July 2025. Together with Singapore’s established attractions, these additions provide more options for families, younger travelers and visitors looking for new experiences, while the AI Inspiration Lab offers a technology-based way to connect those offerings with individual travel interests.
The collaboration between STB and Mafengwo has developed progressively since 2023, moving from targeted promotional campaigns toward AI-supported travel services and experiences. In 2024, Mafengwo’s AI travel assistant made its debut in the partnership, with STB becoming its first overseas destination AI partner, followed by further AI-focused cooperation in 2025. The latest Singapore AI Inspiration Lab builds on that progression by combining destination marketing, immersive activities and smart travel technology. As AI continues to influence how travelers search, plan and experience destinations, the initiative positions Singapore as a destination willing to experiment with new tourism technology while offering Chinese travelers a more personalized, interactive and experience-driven way to discover the Lion City.
