TAAN Seeks Feedback on Proposed Helicopter Flight Restrictions in Khumbu Region

The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has received a formal letter from Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu, outlining new provisions regarding helicopter flights in the Khumbu region. The proposed regulations include a ban on commercial helicopter flights above Lukla, a key gateway to the Everest region.

In response, TAAN has initiated a detailed study of the proposal and is engaging with relevant stakeholders to assess the potential advantages and disadvantages of the new regulations. The organization has also reached out to its General Members, requesting their feedback and insights on the matter.

TAAN has extended its invitation to all well-wishers and supporters of trekking and mountain tourism to share their opinions and suggestions through its official platform. This inclusive approach aims to gather diverse perspectives on the implications of the proposed restrictions.

The final decision by TAAN will be guided by the collective feedback received from its members and stakeholders, ensuring the best interests of trekking and mountain tourism are upheld. The association remains committed to maintaining a balance between environmental sustainability and the growth of Nepal’s trekking and mountaineering industries.
