Tourism Police Units to be Established at Khaptad and Rara for Enhanced Tourist Safety

The Department of Tourism has announced plans to establish Tourism Police Units at two of the major tourist destinations in Nepal: Khaptad in the Sudurpashchim Province and Rara in the Karnali Province. Although Tourism Police Units have been set up in five provinces, these two regions have previously lacked such support.

Dr. Narayan Regmi, the Director-General of the Department of Tourism, confirmed that the process of establishing these units is underway. He emphasized that the Tourism Police plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of international tourists, as well as facilitating their needs while visiting Nepal.

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey, expressed confidence that the establishment of these units in Khaptad and Rara will significantly ease the experience for tourists traveling to these popular destinations. The new units are expected to enhance the overall convenience and safety of visitors in these areas, further promoting tourism in the Sudurpashchim and Karnali regions.
