Turkish Airlines Aircraft Catches Fire During Landing at TIA

A Turkish Airlines aircraft arriving from Istanbul caught fire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Monday morning, prompting an emergency evacuation and temporary closure of the runway. According to Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Silwal of the Airport Security Office, the fire broke out in the tire of Turkish Airlines flight TK726 during landing.

“Fire erupted in one of the aircraft’s tires while it was landing this morning. The blaze was brought under control with the help of fire engines, and the situation is now normal,” Silwal said. “The runway has been temporarily closed for technical inspection.”

273 Passengers Safely Evacuated from Turkish Airlines

Authorities said the aircraft was carrying 273 passengers along with 11 crew members. All passengers were safely evacuated through emergency exits immediately after the incident. Airport officials confirmed that technical inspections of the aircraft are currently underway, while airport operations were briefly affected due to the runway closure.
