17-Year-Old Asha Noor Shehryar Becomes Youngest American Woman to Summit Mt. Manaslu

On September 23, 2024, 17-year-old climber Asha Noor Shehryar achieved a remarkable feat by scaling Mt. Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest peak, at 8,163 meters. This accomplishment makes her the youngest American woman to reach the mountain’s true summit.

Born on October 19, 2006, Asha reached the summit at approximately 4:10 AM, as part of an expedition organized by Seven Summit Treks (SST). Thaneswar Guragai, General Manager at SST, confirmed her historic achievement, stating, “Asha and her guide Ngima Dorchi Sherpa successfully reached the Manaslu true summit.”

Asha’s accomplishment adds to a growing list of young climbers who have made their mark on the mountain. Record-holding climber Nima Rinji Sherpa holds the title of the youngest male climber to summit Manaslu at just 18 years old. Additionally, Sui Cho Yuan, a 16-year-old from China, is noted as the youngest female climber to reach the summit in 2023.

Asha’s journey not only highlights her personal dedication and skill but also inspires aspiring climbers worldwide.
