A total of 330 foreign nationals and tourists have been rescued following the devastating flash floods that swept through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors on August 26, 2026, affecting parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts. According to the latest update, 330 foreign nationals/tourists had been rescued as of 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2026. The information is based on data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Government Agencies Continue Search and Rescue Operations
Following the disaster, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Tourist Police and other concerned stakeholders have been coordinating closely with government agencies, security authorities and local administrations to determine the whereabouts and safety of foreign nationals and tourists affected by the floods.
Search, rescue, evacuation and assistance operations are continuing for individuals who remain stranded, injured or otherwise affected by the disaster. NTB has also been coordinating with the Tourist Police, NDRRMA, tourism stakeholders and other relevant agencies to facilitate verified information and provide assistance wherever possible.
Several Major Roads Remain Blocked
Authorities have urged travelers to remain particularly cautious while traveling through flood- and landslide-affected areas, as the impacts of the monsoon season can continue until mid-September. According to Nepal Police, several major road sections remain restricted or completely obstructed due to flooding and landslides. In Rasuwa, the Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road section at Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Palate, along with another section of the main highway, has been completely closed due to flooding.
In Nuwakot, the Tokha–Chhahare road section at Shivapuri Rural Municipality-6 has been closed as a precaution against potential flooding and landslides. The Pasang Lhamu Highway at Bidur Municipality-10, Simtar, has also been completely obstructed by flooding. Meanwhile, in Dhading, landslides have completely blocked sections of the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 and Parewabhir in Gajuri Rural Municipality-2. The BP Highway has also been restricted due to the possibility of flooding, with authorities temporarily halting vehicles as a precautionary measure.
Travelers Urged to Check Road and Weather Conditions
Tourists traveling in Nepal have been advised to check the latest road and weather conditions before beginning their journey, particularly when traveling through or toward Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other areas affected by the recent floods. Travelers have also been requested to follow instructions and safety guidance issued by local administrations, Nepal Police, security agencies and other relevant authorities.
Most Tourist Destinations Remain Operational
Authorities and tourism stakeholders have emphasized that the disruption is primarily concentrated along the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river corridor passing through Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha. Other tourist destinations, tourism activities and places across Nepal remain fully operational, allowing international travelers to continue visiting the country while exercising appropriate caution in areas affected by monsoon-related hazards.

NTB has also appealed for continued support from international travelers through their visits to Nepal and requested the foreign diplomatic community to continue supporting efforts to provide accurate information and assistance to affected nationals. The Tourism Board said it will continue coordinating with the Tourist Police, NDRRMA, tourism stakeholders and other relevant agencies and will provide further assistance and verified information as it becomes available.
