50th Hiking Series Concludes with Significant Discussions on Tourism and Health

The 50th edition of the hiking series has been completed, featuring a trek from Bamdi to Tarebhir and ending at Ghatichhina in Pokhara-23. The event was organized by the Hikers Club Nepal in collaboration with the local community of Pokhara-23.

During the hike, discussions were held on the role of hiking in tourism development. Ramkaji Gurung, the Ward Chair of Pokhara-23, highlighted the importance of hiking for both tourism and health. He emphasized that hiking significantly contributes to promoting domestic tourism and boosting the morale of residents. Additionally, he noted that hiking groups increase the consumption of locally produced agricultural products and livestock.

Gurung pointed out that Pokhara-23 is the largest geographical ward, bordered by Syangja and Parvat districts and falling within the Panchase Protected Area, making it a popular choice for tourists.

Taranath Pahari, Vice-President of the Pokhara Tourism Council and Founder Chairman of Vitoff Gandaki, noted that while hiking activities had been sporadic in the past, the continuous nature of this series has given it a campaign-like significance.

Participants, including Om Bhandari, Sheetala Thapa, Mamta Parajuli, and Dilkumari Khan, shared their experiences of the hike, emphasizing the opportunity to become familiar with each other, as well as to study rural settlements, agriculture, and medicinal plants.

The event was presided over by Krishna Ranabhat, President of the Hikers Club, with Jyoti Hamal serving as the welcoming Vice-President and Madhu Adhikari as the Secretary for the event’s management.
