A devastating fire at a ski resort hotel in northwest Turkey has claimed the lives of 76 people and left more than 50 injured. The fire broke out in the restaurant on the fourth floor of the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel, located in the Kartalkaya area of Bolu Province. At the time of the incident, 234 guests were staying at the hotel.
As the fire spread, many guests panicked and attempted to escape by jumping from the hotel. Two people died after jumping, while others succumbed to smoke inhalation. The entire hotel was filled with thick smoke, making it difficult for many to find an exit. Local media reports indicate that no warning siren was sounded during the fire.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who inspected the site, confirmed the tragic death toll of 76 and reported at least 50 injuries. He expressed the government’s sorrow over the incident and assured that investigations would continue.
