Thai AirAsia has introduced special one-way flights from Lumbini to Bangkok for just NPR 12,990, starting February 3, 2025. The promotional offer, available through the airline’s website and social media platforms, allows bookings until January 26.
However, when checking the booking system on the website, the flight fare for February 3 was displayed at NPR 16,600 from Bhairahawa to Bangkok, and NPR 27,000 for the return flight. Local sources suggest that the discounted price might be for limited seats only, as confirmed by NATA Lumbini’s president, Chandra Thapa. He speculated that the fare could be lowered further, as the promotion could be valid for a limited number of seats.
The airline began operations on the Bangkok-Bhairahawa-Bangkok route in November 2024, initially offering two flights per week, which was later reduced to one due to weather-related disruptions. Despite the operational challenges, the flight routes were not previously listed on the airline’s booking system. Thai AirAsia has now resumed promotion for the new route connecting Lumbini and Bangkok.
Thapa expressed optimism that continued promotional efforts would ensure the route’s long-term viability. He added that if the route maintains regularity, additional flights from Thailand to Bhairahawa could be introduced, which would further enhance connections for Buddhist tourists traveling to Nepal.
