Nepal and South Korea Strengthen Tourism Ties in Gwangju

In a concerted effort to bolster bilateral tourism relations, the Nepal Tourism Board, in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy and the Korea Tours and Trekking Operators Association, hosted a significant tourism promotion event in Gwangju, South Korea.

During the gathering on Tuesday, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor Pushpa Raj Bhattarai underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between Nepali and Korean tour operators. Emphasizing the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Nepal-Korea diplomatic relations, the event aimed to foster deeper cooperation in tourism development.

Bhattarai encouraged stakeholders from both nations to explore synergies that could enhance tourism experiences, including prospects for direct flights and increased investments facilitated by the Nepal government.

Hikmat Singh Ayer, Senior Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, outlined comprehensive tourism development strategies in conjunction with the embassy and Korean counterparts. The event served as a platform to showcase “Destination Nepal” and lucrative investment opportunities within Nepal’s vibrant tourism sector.

Chairman Amar Bahadur Shahi of the Korea Tours and Trekking Operators Association concluded the event by inviting Korean tour operators to immerse themselves in Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes and warm hospitality.

Over 65 esteemed travel and tour companies, representing both Nepal and Korea, participated in this pivotal event. Building on the success of prior tourism promotions in Seoul and Busan in May 2023, similar initiatives are scheduled to unfold in Seoul on June 27, 2024, further cementing Nepal-South Korea tourism ties.
