Madhesh Province to Boost Tourism: Chief Minister Singh Outlines Vision

Madhesh Province, known for its rich tourism potential, was the focus of Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh’s address at a recent event organized by the Federation of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs. Held in Lalgadh, Mithila Municipality, the event showcased the province’s geographical diversity, extending from the Chure mountain range to the Indian border.

Chief Minister Singh announced a strategic plan to promote tourism by categorizing the province’s eight districts into four groups. This initiative aims to identify new potential sites and enhance the conservation and promotion of existing significant locations.

Highlighting the region’s unique attractions, Singh noted the potential of Madhesh’s forests, diverse geography, religious sites, agricultural areas, and health tourism. He emphasized the influx of visitors from Bihar, India, seeking eye and snakebite treatments, advocating for integrating these services into the health tourism sector. The Chure range, including spots like Chanoute and Besares, holds great promise for tourism, he added.

Singh also underscored the role of the province’s airports in Janakpurdham, Rajbiraj, and Simara in bolstering trade, business, and tourism. He proposed enhancing connectivity with other parts of the country to facilitate swift access to mountainous regions, envisioning ten-minute flights for tourists from these airports.

Reaffirming his commitment to development, Chief Minister Singh vowed to sustain the people’s hopes. During the event, he was honored by Hiralal Gautam, President of the Federation of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs, Madhesh Province. The gathering also saw the presence of State Minister for Education and Culture Sharda Thapa, Deputy Mayor of Mithila Municipality Sunita Singh Budhathoki, and advisor Bijay Jhunjhunwala.
