The Pokhara Tourism Council organized a vibrant Rice Planting Festival on Saturday in Margi Fewa Phat, located in Pokhara Metropolitan City-23. The event saw enthusiastic participation from local farmers who came together to celebrate and showcase their traditional agricultural practices.
In a significant moment during the festival, local farmers presented Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey with a gift of Jetho Budho rice, a native heirloom variety unique to the region. This gesture symbolized the farmers’ appreciation and highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous rice varieties.
The festival aimed to promote agrotourism and create awareness about the cultural heritage of Pokhara’s agricultural practices. It included various activities such as traditional rice planting demonstrations, cultural performances, and stalls featuring local products.
Chief Minister Pandey praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of agrotourism in boosting the local economy and preserving traditional farming techniques. He encouraged more such events to foster a deeper connection between tourism and agriculture, ensuring sustainable development for the region.
The Rice Planting Festival not only celebrated the rich agricultural traditions of Pokhara but also strengthened the bond between the local community and the provincial government, showcasing a collaborative effort to promote cultural heritage and economic growth.
