On June 27, 2024, the Nepal Tourism Board and the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok organized a tourism promotion program titled “Experience Nepal: Lumbini to Himalayan Bliss.” The event was held in collaboration with Nepal Airlines (NA), the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), and the Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA).
A total of 75 companies from Nepal and Thailand participated in the event. This included 25 travel and tour companies from Nepal, 50 from Thailand, and representatives from three airlines—Nepal Airlines, Thai Airways, and Thai Lion Air. Additionally, Thai officials, business entrepreneurs, media persons, and representatives from the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Thailand, and the Thai-Nepal Association were in attendance.
H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Thailand, addressed the program and encouraged participants to explore business opportunities in Nepal’s tourism sector. He emphasized Nepal’s unique attractions for Thai visitors, ranging from Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, to the mesmerizing Himalayas. He highlighted that Nepal is a destination suitable for all seasons and various types of travelers, including those interested in cultural and heritage sites, nature, pilgrimage, adventure, leisure, sports, and jungle safaris.
Mr. Vitidnan Rojanapanich, the first Thai to summit Mount Everest in 2008 and President of the Thai Nepal Friendship Association (TNFA), shared his experiences of Nepal and the Himalayas with the attendees. Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counsellor, welcomed the participants.
Mr. Nabin Pokharel, Senior Manager at the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), made a thematic presentation titled “Experience Nepal: Lumbini to Himalayan Bliss,” highlighting major tourist attractions in Nepal, including Lumbini and the Himalayan region. He also discussed modern facilities such as sports venues, airports, and hotels. Mr. Ramesh Kumar Hamal, former Vice-Chairman of the Thai-Nepal Chamber of Commerce (TNCC), spoke about the tourism potential between Nepal and Thailand.
The program featured cultural performances by young artists from the Thai-Nepali communities, supported by the Thai Nepali Association. Additionally, a lucky draw raffle offered prizes such as round-trip air tickets, hotel packages, and rafting packages, sponsored by participating companies and airlines, to encourage Thai tourists to visit Nepal.
