Bandipur Rural Municipality in Tanahun is actively transforming its villages into vibrant tourist destinations. Villages like Ramkot, Korikha, Jharagau, Dharampani, Huslang, Kamalbari, Lakhnabari, and Gyajatar, situated beyond Bandipur Bazaar, are undergoing significant infrastructural enhancements to attract tourists, as revealed by the municipality’s chairman, Surendra Thapa. Initiatives include the preservation of traditional homestays and infrastructural support.
To boost tourism revenue, the municipality has launched the ‘Explore Bandipur’ campaign, targeting domestic tourists in major cities such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Biratnagar. Thapa emphasized cultural programs aimed at enhancing the historic charm of Bandipur Bazaar.
Furthermore, Bandipur Rural Municipality plans to establish a tourism center and protect historical and cultural sites like Siddha Cave, Pataldhwari Cave, Huslangkot Durbar, Mukundeshwari Path, Chandrakot Gadhi, Thanimai, and Bhukbhuke.
In educational news, Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun has decided to offer residential preparation classes with boarding facilities to boost grades in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE). The decision follows zero success rates reported by schools like Chhimkeshwari and Kanyadevi, where all students appeared for the SEE exams. Out of 433 students, 16 achieved GPA 3.6-4, 45 achieved GPA 3.2-3.6, 52 achieved GPA 2.8-3.2, 36 achieved GPA 2.4-2.8, while two students scored below GPA 2.0.
Chairman Shukra Chuman of Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality expressed concerns over the results, criticizing the government, teachers, and school administrations for systemic failures in education. He stated, “The alarming failure rate in this year’s SEE from Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality highlights significant challenges in our education system.
