Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Initiates Heritage Preservation and Infrastructure Development

Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to preserve heritage sites and develop infrastructure in the municipality. This was announced during an interactive session on development, construction, and service flow organized by the Raft Communication Club Bhaktapur today.

Mayor Surendra Shrestha of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality emphasized the preservation of the area’s traditional identity. He disclosed plans to establish a pottery square, a ceramics hub, and a museum showcasing traditional earthenware artifacts.

Highlighting the physical infrastructure development, Mayor Shrestha declared the rapid construction progress in heritage sites from Shankhadhar Chowk to Bal Kumari within Madhyapur Thimi. He noted the relocation of schools located near the Thimi Durbar Square to restore them to their original form. Additionally, he mentioned the commencement of a conservation project for the renowned Nil Barahi Temple at an estimated cost of 240 million rupees.

“We are actively working under the Urban Beautification Plan to develop small recreational areas, including green spaces and public restrooms, at vacant plots, with an allocated budget of 10 million rupees,” stated Mayor Shrestha.

Further underscoring tourism development efforts, Mayor Shrestha outlined plans to modernize street lighting infrastructure along tourist routes from Radhe Radhe to enhance safety and attractiveness. He also mentioned extending healthcare access, including ultrasound and lab testing services, for senior citizens and expectant mothers at the urban health clinic in each ward of the municipality.

Looking ahead, Mayor Shrestha intended to lay the foundation stone for a central administrative building in the municipality of Dashain. He informed about obtaining federal government approval to operate a 200-bed hospital, facilitating nursing education, and streamlining land integration projects like Kamrotar, Divyashwari, Manohara, and Radhe Radhe.

Integrating scientific and practical methodologies for land surveying and mapping, along with registering approximately three thousand homes, represents significant achievements in public land conservation efforts within the municipality.

Mayor Shrestha concluded by announcing the upcoming Thimi Festival in Radhe Radhe and Divyashwari during the upcoming month of Kartik, aimed at fostering cultural vibrancy and community engagement.
