Nepal Joins Seminar on Integrated Development of Culture and Tourism in China

Nepal recently participated in a seminar titled “Integrated Development of Culture and Tourism for Developing Countries,” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. The event, organized by Guangxi International Business Vocational College, took place from June 18 to July 1, 2024. The seminar hosted 35 participants from various countries, including Nepal, Armenia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

The Nepalese delegation comprised officials from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA), and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The seminar aimed to impart knowledge on integrating culture and tourism, drawing on the Chinese experience and exploring how these strategies could be adapted to the Nepalese context.

Representatives from the Nepal Tourism Board included Mr. Santosh Bikram Thapa, Ms. Janaki Prasad Upadhyay, Mr. Sagar Upadhyaya, Mr. Rajeev Jha, Mr. Gopal Bhandari, and Mr. Siddhartha Bishwokarma. They engaged in discussions and activities designed to enhance their understanding of cultural tourism integration and promotion.

The seminar provided a platform for sharing best practices and learning from China’s successful model, offering insights that could be beneficial for Nepal’s tourism and cultural sectors.
