Kathmandu Witnesses Spiritual Walk to Badrinarayan Dham Before Sacred Pran Pratishtha

From Sitapaila, Kathmandu, to the recently built Badrinarayan Dham in Ramkot, Nagarjun Municipality-7, a spiritual pilgrimage, or padayatra, was organized. The purpose of the walk was to raise awareness of the Dham both domestically and abroad and to get ready for the forthcoming Pran Pratishtha, or ritual consecration, which is set for Baishakh 19–27 (early May 2025).

Jointly organized by the Narayan Pokharel Foundation and All Nepal Sports Foundation, the walk saw participation from over 1,000 people. President Ramchandra Paudel will inaugurate the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. With an investment of NPR 400 million and spanning 22 ropani of land, the Badrinarayan Dham boasts temples in both pagoda and shikhara styles, the construction of which cost NPR 70 million. It also has a contemporary Gurukul, meditation spaces, a growing spiritual center, and devotee accommodations.

Chief patron Dinbandhu Pokharel claims that the Dham was created to represent Ramkot as one of the most important sacred sites, echoing the Char Dham’s essence. The late Narayan Pokharel, a spiritual leader who is thought to have made a substantial spiritual contribution to Nepal’s development, is honored by the foundation. He is regarded as Nepal’s first religious martyr, having been born in Baguwa, Gorkha, in 1954 and assassinated in Ramapur, Rupandehi, in 2005.

In more than 65 districts, Narayan Pokharel had recited more than 1,136 Purans. The Narayan Pokharel Foundation was founded in 2007 in his honor to uphold and advance his legacy. According to Dinbandhu Pokharel, the foundation’s vision of establishing a significant spiritual center in Nepal is now becoming a reality. In addition to the Badrinarayan temple, the Dham will house a Panchayat temple with Ganesh, Surya, Devi, and Shiva, an administrative building, the foundation’s office, a yoga and meditation center, and a havan kund.
