To promote tourism, the Chisapani–Dhulikot Hiking Competition was held today in Kailali, where Dinesh Bahadur Sarki secured first place. The event was organized by the Nawalsingh Rawal Foundation. As the winner, Sarki received a cash prize of NPR 100,000. He is also a ward member of Mohanyal Rural Municipality–5.
According to the foundation, the second place was won by Nawaraj Nepali, a ward member from Dhakari Rural Municipality–6, who received NPR 50,000. The third place went to Dal Bahadur Rokaya, a ward member from Ramaroshan Rural Municipality–5, who received NPR 25,000.
In the women’s category, Nani Damai from Mohanyal Rural Municipality–3 came first; Durgadevi Joshi, a ward member from Lamkichuha–8, came second; and Sushila Shahi, the mayor of Lamkichuha Municipality, secured third place. They received NPR 100,000, NPR 50,000, and NPR 25,000 respectively.
Inaugurating the competition, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Pandey, stated that the hike was a historic step towards promoting tourism. He emphasized that the event conveyed a message of promoting tourism through collaboration among the government, private sector, and local communities. Foundation Chairperson Tapendra Rawal stated that the hiking competition was organized to preserve and promote lesser-known tourist destinations.
