Sanskrit Language Vital For Cultural Preservation, Says Minister Thakuri

Bagmati Province’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Bimal Thakuri, has emphasized the need to preserve the Sanskrit language to protect cultural heritage. Speaking at a felicitation and award distribution program organized by the Chhahari Youth Club at Kanti Bhairav Gurukul in Uttarbahini, Gokarna, Minister Thakuri stated that no culture practiced in Nepal can be preserved without the Sanskrit language, making its protection a top priority.

On behalf of the club, Minister Thakuri awarded NPR 51,111 to the Gurukul. During the event, Vedic scholar and founding chairperson of Kanti Bhairav Gurukul, Prof. Rishiram Pokhrel, was honored. Chairman of Ward No. 4 of Gokarneshwar Municipality, Jayaram Mahat, highlighted the need to preserve and promote Gurukul education, noting that the municipality is providing support based on Gurukul’s needs.

Poets Bajuram Paudel and Madhusudan Parajuli also recited poems at the event. Honoree Pokhrel shared that the Gurukul was established to preserve tradition and culture. Additionally, Sarvani Parajuli, who played the lead role in the Sanskrit play Pratishtha, was honored with a cash prize of NPR 10,000 and a certificate.
