Birendra Bahadur Basnet, the executive chairman of Buddha Air and an aviation entrepreneur, has released a new book called “By the Book.” The book highlights Buddha Air’s accomplishments and management techniques over the course of nearly 28 years.

Ashok Shumsher Jabara, the CEO of Himalayan Bank, and Sansar Bhakta Shrestha, a former administrator of the Employees Provident Fund, officiated the launch event in Lalitpur. Recalling his early financial involvement with the company, Shrestha hailed Buddha Air as an example of effective management and high-quality service. Jabara said she was proud to have a financial partnership with such a respectable airline.

Basnet, the book’s author, claimed that he wrote it to teach aspiring businesspeople from Buddha Air’s experience. “This book incorporates the vision, challenges, and management lessons from our early days and reflects disciplined practice,” he stated. Basnet hopes the book will educate and motivate Nepali business and management professionals.

With just four members when it was founded in 1997, Buddha Air now has over 1,500 employees. The airline started out with Beechcraft 1900D aircraft and now has 18 ATR aircraft. It has flown more than 20 million passengers and serves more than 40 domestic destinations.
