First Spring 2025 Summit On Mt. Dhaulagiri Achieved

The first confirmed ascent of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters) in the Spring 2025 season was accomplished this morning by a rope-fixing team under the leadership of seasoned mountaineer Lakpa Sherpa, also known as Makalu Lakpa. This is a significant accomplishment for the climbing season. Prior to this, the Seven Summit Treks-led team had fixed ropes up to 8,050 meters. At 9:35 a.m., the climbers began their last push to the summit, taking advantage of a favorable weather window to reach the summit. Six international climbers and seven Sherpa guides successfully completed the expedition’s ascent despite the difficult conditions and technical difficulties.

Notably, some climbers demonstrated exceptional endurance and skill by finishing the ascent without the need for additional oxygen, such as Chung-Han Lu, Anja Karen Blacha, and Sajid Ali. The team as a whole showed remarkable resilience and coordination. The successful summit team on Mt. Dhaulagiri comprised a diverse group of international climbers and experienced Sherpa guides. The climbers who reached the peak included Chung-Han Lu, Anja Karen Blacha, and Sajid Ali, all of whom impressively summited without the use of supplemental oxygen. They were joined by Dragan Celikovic, Afsaneh Hesami Fard, and Mohammadrezashahram Shahlaei.

Leading the rope-fixing operations was Lakpa Sherpa, also known as Makalu Lakpa, who played a crucial role in ensuring the route was secure for the final ascent. Supporting him were Sherpa team members Taraman Tamang, Pasang Norbu Sherpa, Ngawang Paljor Sherpa, Phurba Kusang Sherpa, Pem Dorchi Sherpa, and Pema Chhumbi Sherpa. Their collective efforts and coordination led to a safe and successful climb to the summit of Dhaulagiri at 8,167 meters. This successful summit demonstrates the cooperation and commitment of both international climbers and the Sherpa community, and it marks an inspiring start to the season on Dhaulagiri.
