Air travel at Rara Airport in Mugu has resumed today after a week-long hiatus caused by adverse weather conditions, announced Chief Krishna Rijal of the Rara Civil Aviation Office, Talcha. The disruption, triggered by incessant rainfall and thick fog across mountain districts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, forced Summit Air and Tara Air to suspend flights temporarily.
Passengers, who were stranded in Mugu due to the flight cancellations, expressed relief as services resumed, reconnecting them with their destinations. The airport, pivotal for both residents and tourists, plays a crucial role in facilitating travel to and from the picturesque Rara Lake region.
The return of flights is anticipated to alleviate travel disruptions and support the local tourism sector, which heavily relies on reliable air connectivity. Local authorities and airline operators have implemented necessary safety measures to ensure smooth operations as services gradually return to normal.
The resumption of flights at Rara Airport marks a positive development for travelers and underscores the resilience of air transport in Nepal’s challenging terrain and weather conditions.
