Held in the Malaysian capital, the ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 600 individuals, including representatives from diplomatic missions, business establishments, intellectuals, and the local Nepali diaspora. The highlight of the program was the presence of the Chief Abbot of a leading Malaysian Buddhist monastery, Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana, who served as the chief guest.

In his address, Chief Monk Dhammaratana elaborated on the significance of Buddha Purnima, highlighting the timeless value of his teachings for global peace and prosperity. He emphasized how the path of compassion, nonviolence, and wisdom advocated by Buddha can guide the world toward harmony and understanding in these challenging times.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Netra Prasad Timilsina, also addressed the gathering and expressed his profound pride in representing Nepal the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. He highlighted the contributions of his principles of nonviolence, compassion, love, and wisdom in building global peace and advancing nation-building efforts. “It is a matter of immense pride for me and all Nepalis to be able to share his message from the land where he was born Lumbini,” said Ambassador Timilsina.

The Ambassador extended a heartfelt invitation to all attendees and the international community to visit Lumbini, participate in its development, and help spread his message of peace across the globe. He called upon everyone to be ambassadors of his wisdom and join hands in promoting global harmony.

The event served as a cultural bridge and a strong reminder of the spiritual bond that ties Nepal with Buddhist communities across Asia and the world. It was also a successful platform to promote Nepal’s heritage and Lumbini as a sacred pilgrimage destination. Through this celebration, the Embassy underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Nepal’s unique spiritual identity on a global stage.
