In the Ramvel Community Forest in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, an open zoo and park will be built. The infrastructure will be built throughout the eight bighas of the Rhino Park area and will also function as a wildlife rescue center, making it a flagship project prioritized by the city.
Mayor Renu Dahal said the park’s goal is to support wildlife rescue efforts and encourage tourism during today’s foundation-laying ceremony. “A model park will be built with joint investment from all three levels of government,” she said, adding that the park would also benefit East-West Highway travelers.
The metropolitan city is dedicated to protecting its forests and wildlife, and its citizens should be able to take advantage of these efforts, said Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari.
Additional speakers at the event included former Bagmati Province Minister Bijay Subedi, Chief District Officer Prakash Paudel, Chief Administrative Officer of the city Laxmi Prasad Paudel, and Madhav Dhital and Bel Bahadur Thapa, the current and former chairpersons of Ramvel Community Forest.
Laxman Pant, the chair of Ward No. 12, reported that the park and open zoo have been given a budget of Rs. 22.3 million. There will be a roundhouse, five ponds, a wildlife rescue center, foot trails, a museum, and other facilities in the area.
