Myagdi has completed 18 key tourism infrastructure projects aimed at enriching visitor experiences and fostering local tourism growth in the current fiscal year. Managed under the oversight of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment of Gandaki Province, these initiatives were executed with a budget totaling Rs. 1 crore 56 lakh.
Providing insights into the achievements, Poshnath Sharma, Chief of Myagdi’s Tourism and Industry Office, affirmed, “All planned projects have been successfully implemented. The scope of work includes the construction of new trails covering a total of 9 kilometers across renowned historical and religious tourism sites.”
Suman Bogati, Sub-engineer overseeing the projects, detailed the efforts, encompassing the carving of stone steps along a 72-meter trail and the paving of an 82-meter concrete path. Additionally, ancillary infrastructure such as boundary walls, conservation zones, entry gates, viewpoints, and picnic spots were strategically established along these routes.
These newly completed tourism infrastructures aim to attract more tourists and provide upgraded amenities for residents. Annapurna Rural Municipality-5, for instance, allocated over Rs. 20 lakh this year to construct trails, viewpoints, and water management infrastructure around Khopra Lake.
Similar enhancement efforts were directed at historical and religious sites like Takamkot, Jyamarukot, and Chinakot, where budgets ranging from Rs. 10 to 10 lakh were allocated for developing pathways and railway amenities. Significant expansions included routes from Karbakelithan to Darmija-Nangidevi and Lamakhorla-Dandagaun.
Furthermore, projects focused on stairway construction and conservation received budgets ranging from Rs. 8 to 8 lakh, covering areas such as Ratnachaur in Beni Municipality-1 and the ancient Param Vedic religious ashram in Beni-2. These initiatives are set to position Myagdi as a prominent tourism destination, seamlessly blending natural splendor with rich cultural heritage.
The concerted efforts towards infrastructure development underscore Myagdi’s commitment to boosting local tourism, enticing visitors, and safeguarding its cultural and historical treasures for generations to come.
