The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority of Nepal, has published the official foreign exchange rates for today, establishing the conversion benchmarks for major international currencies. These rates are significant for individuals, businesses, and financial institutions engaged in cross-border trade, travel, and remittance services.
Nepal Rastra Bank’s Exchange Rates
According to the official statement issued by the NRB, the buying rate of the United States Dollar (USD) has been fixed at NPR 136.52, while the selling rate stands at NPR 137.12. The USD remains one of the most traded foreign currencies in Nepal due to its global influence and its role in international remittances.
The European Euro (EUR), another widely used currency in Nepal’s tourism and import-export sectors, is being traded at a buying rate of NPR 152.92 and a selling rate of NPR 153.59. Likewise, the United Kingdom’s Pound Sterling (GBP) is being bought at NPR 181.50 and sold at NPR 182.30, reflecting slight fluctuations in global markets.
Among other significant currencies, the Swiss Franc (CHF) has been marked with a buying rate of NPR 163.11 and a selling rate of NPR 163.82. The Swiss currency holds importance in financial and investment circles, often seen as a stable store of value.

For currencies from the Asia-Pacific region, the NRB has set the buying rate of the Australian Dollar (AUD) at NPR 87.60 and the selling rate at NPR 87.99. Meanwhile, the Canadian Dollar (CAD) is trading with a buying rate of NPR 97.77 and a selling rate of NPR 98.20. These rates are crucial for Nepali students and workers residing in these countries who frequently send money back home.
The Singapore Dollar (SGD), another currency influential in Nepali trade relations and foreign employment remittances, has been fixed at NPR 105.12 for buying and NPR 105.59 for selling. Singapore remains a popular labor destination for many Nepali workers.
In East Asia, the Japanese Yen (JPY), which is traded in units of 10, is listed at NPR 9.38 for buying and NPR 9.42 for selling. Similarly, the Chinese Yuan (CNY) is valued at NPR 18.95 for buying and NPR 19.03 for selling. The close economic ties with China make the CNY particularly relevant in cross-border trade and tourism between the two nations.
From the Middle Eastern region, where a significant number of Nepalis are employed, several Gulf currencies have also been listed. The Saudi Arabian Riyal (SAR) has a buying rate of NPR 36.40 and a selling rate of NPR 36.56. The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is being bought at NPR 37.46 and sold at NPR 37.62, while the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) stands at NPR 37.17 for buying and NPR 37.33 for selling. These rates are essential for tracking the remittances coming from Gulf countries, which form a substantial part of Nepal’s economy.

The Thai Baht (THB) has been fixed at NPR 4.10 for buying and NPR 4.12 for selling. Although relatively minor, this currency rate is helpful for tourists and business people involved in Thai-Nepali exchanges.
The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), used widely by Nepali migrant workers, is trading at NPR 31.78 for buying and NPR 31.92 for selling. Likewise, the South Korean Won (KRW), listed per 100 units, has a buying rate of NPR 9.78 and a selling rate of NPR 9.82. Both countries are prominent labor destinations for Nepali youth, and thus these rates are crucial for remittance forecasting.
European Nordic currencies have also been included in the NRB’s daily listing. The Swedish Krona (SEK) is valued at NPR 13.99 for buying and NPR 14.05 for selling. The Danish Krone (DKK) is being bought at NPR 20.50 and sold at NPR 20.59.

Furthermore, the NRB has announced the exchange rates for less frequently traded currencies like the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), which stands at NPR 17.47 for buying and NPR 17.55 for selling. The Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), considered one of the highest-valued currencies globally, is listed with a buying rate of NPR 444.17 and a selling rate of NPR 446.12. For India, Nepal’s largest trading partner and neighbor, the exchange rate for the Indian Rupee (INR) has been set at NPR 160 per 100 INR for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling. Due to the pegged exchange rate system between Nepal and India, the INR is widely used and accepted across Nepal.
The central bank has also stated that these exchange rates are subject to revision at any time based on market volatility and demand-supply conditions. It clarified that individual commercial banks might set their own exchange rates, which could differ slightly from the official rates issued by the NRB. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, the NRB has advised the public and stakeholders to visit its official website.
The daily publication of foreign exchange rates by the Nepal Rastra Bank remains a vital economic indicator, offering insights into global financial interactions and serving as a benchmark for financial institutions, investors, importers, and Nepali citizens alike.
