Westerly and Local Winds Trigger Unstable Weather Across Hilly Regions

Nepal is currently experiencing the combined effects of westerly and local winds, with partial influence from moisture-laden air masses originating in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while other parts of the country will witness mostly fair conditions.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. A few places in the hilly regions of the remaining provinces may also experience brief rainfall with winds. Additionally, light rain and snowfall are expected in isolated areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions in Nepal.

According to the evening forecast, partly to generally cloudy conditions will persist in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while other regions are likely to see clearer skies. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also predicted in these provinces, along with the possibility of light snowfall in mountainous regions. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has advised the public and travelers in these areas to remain cautious of sudden weather changes and potential localized impacts.
