Today marks a pivotal moment for the Thamel Tourism Development Council as it prepares to elect its new leadership during the 28th and 29th General Assembly and Convention. The election will decide the fate of current President Bhabishwar Sharma, who faces a strong challenge from former General Secretary Dhruba Adhikari for the prestigious position of President.
According to Election Officer Umadevi Prasai, the race for the council’s top posts includes notable candidates such as Sahadev (Bimal) Dhamala, Rajib Pandey, Chetnath Pudasaini, and Shree Krishna Thapaliya, all vying for the three Vice President positions.

In the contest for General Secretary, the candidates are Badri Prasad Timalsina and Sojeshman Malakar. The position of Secretary will be decided between Punyaram Lageju and Dilip (Milan) Kandel. Prakash Thapaliya remains unopposed for the Treasurer position.
The election also sees a competitive field for member positions, with candidates including Kopila Singhada, Roshan Adhikari, Kumar Nepali, Purnaprasad Chaulagai, Binod Shrestha, Amrit Thokar (Lama), Sanukaji Maharjan, Ramesh Bishwakarma, Ranjayman Pradhan, Nabin Tamang, Sudarshan Khanal, Janaksingh Tamang, Badriprasad Aryal, and Lalbabu Chaudhary.
A total of 1,193 eligible members will cast their votes today, determining the future direction of the council amidst keen competition and high stakes for leadership positions crucial to the development of Thamel’s tourism sector.
